  1. I read The Odyssey last year, too. I'd read pieces of it before in school (who hasn't?), but never the whole thing. I didn't realize until then that all the cool stuff everyone remembers only happens in 1 or 2 "chapters." Everything else is great too, but it's decidedly lacking in monsters and mayhem. The one I read was Alexander Pope's 18th century translation. Do you know which one you read?

    I also really want to read Gaiman's American Gods. Was it good like everyone says?
